PeopleTec Support of NEPA's 2009 Space & Missile Defense Student Day - A Big Success!

Over 300 students, teachers, chaperones, and industry volunteers converged at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 for the 3rd Annual Space & Missile Defense (SMD) Student Day hosted by the National Education Partnership Alliance (NEPA).

The event was designed to introduce 6th and 7th grade students to the excitement of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in an engaging and stimulating environment that will hopefully spark increased interest in these fields of study and future careers in the Space & Missile Defense Field.

As Dr. Rodney Robertson, Director of the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command Center (USASMDC) Technical Center and Chairman of the NEPA Government Oversight Council, indicated in a Huntsville Times article

"This is the critical age because if you don't now get them interested and take math and science classes at this age, then they've made a decision they're not going to major in science and engineering. It's a long-term investment. If you don't get them involved, you're not going to get them in the workforce."

PeopleTec raises over $3,500 in support of the Huntsville Alzheimer's Association

HUNTSVILLE, AL - October, 2009

Congratulations to the PeopleTec fundraising team on their efforts to support the Huntsville Alzheimer's Association. This cause was selected on behalf of PeopleTec as a way to give back and show support to those in need within our community. This proved to be a very meaningful charity as many have been touched by this devastating disease.

As part of the fundraising efforts, PeopleTec employees, family members and friends participated in the following:

Alzheimer's Cookout: Friday, September 25, 2009 - PeopleTec pre-ordered brown bag lunches for various local companies. Lunches included hamburger or hotdog, soda, chips and dessert. Employees worked hard to prepare, package and deliver the lunches, and raised additional funds by selling individual homemade desserts.

Memory Walk: Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Joe Davis Stadium- 15 members of Team PeopleTec participated in the local Alzheimer's Association annual walk to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.

T-Shirts Sales: Orders were taken for Team PeopleTec shirts designed with the Alzheimer's Association logo. Shirts were worn at the Memory Walk as well as other fundraising efforts.

Donation Jars were set around the office for collecting spare changes-every penny counts!

"Forget Me Knots" paper flowers and Awareness Bracelets were sold to honor a loved one or display support for the cause.

Social Networking efforts were also utilized in this campaign via Face Book and were instrumental in raising over a quarter of the total PeopleTec proceeds.

Through these efforts, PeopleTec not only met but EXCEEDED the original goal of $2K by raising a final amount of $3,545.15. Special thanks for all of the donations and to the volunteers who worked tirelessly for several months to ensure that our company is proudly represented within the community!
